The Best Of Zambia Safari sets out to discover Zambia's 4 best (unique and diverse) eco-systems where wildlife viewing is unique to each park, activities are life changing experiences as well as setting foot on famed locations in Zambia leading to a very memorable experience. Visit the Kafue National Park, whose experiences are unmatched and the wildlife interaction are not scripted nor predictable. The wow! moment is rather unexpected and within a matter of a few second the whole experience unravels - whether it is the lechwe being stalked by the cheetah, the African hunting dogs appearance on the river banks or the real-time kill of a young impala by a leopard - Kafue is a genuinely wild experience. Lower Zambezi National Park is beautiful displaying its tall leadwoods, ebonies, acacias and figs stand on carpets of rich grassland. Wildlife congregates near the river which can be viewed on the specialty canoeing safaris. The South Luangwa National Park is one of Africa's biggest parks with territorial species of wildlife located in distinct/resident areas of the park. The visit to the park enables AfricanMecca clients to explore the beauty of the wilderness, wildlife, ecology, its specialty walking safari, unmatched day and night game viewing as well as the wilderness camp experience. South Luangwa wildlife include huge herds of elephant and buffalo. Of particular interest are the two subspecies unique to the Luangwa Valley: the beautiful thornicroft giraffe (with its dark patterned skin) and Cookson's wildebeest. The valley's main predators are lion, leopard and spotted hyena. During the day, lion seldom hide and are often seen, where as leopards hunt by night. Combine this with an experience of viewing the stunning Victoria Falls in Livingstone, one of Africa's (and world) wonders from an eye level or from above - either in a microlight or helicopter - it can't get any better than that!
LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK
Upon arrival at the Lusaka International Airport, a guest relations’ transfer officer will personally meet all arriving guests. They will be standing outside the arrival section holding a signboard with your name on it. Check in for your flight. Fly out to Lower Zambezi National Park, arriving at Royal Airstrip. You are met on arrival and transferred to Chongwe River Camp. The camp is situated on the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi River, directly opposite Mana Pools. Under a complete canopy of huge Winterthorn Acacias, the camp occupies an unrivalled location, used twice by David Livingstone on his travels, as did Frederick Courtney Selous (See Selous Game Reserve In Tanzania), when he hunted in this, his favorite wilderness! Chongwe River Camp is a luxury 'bush camp' situated in a wilderness area; elephant are more numerous than people in the Albida grove. There are no fences and the animals have complete right of way. The Chongwe River is the boundary of the Lower Zambezi National Park, a four thousand square kilometer pristine sanctuary, teeming with game, and said to be one of the continent's most picturesque wilderness areas. A policy of non-intrusive enjoyment of wildlife and low environmental impact has preserved the area and its wildlife.
The Lower Zambezi has become one of southern Africa's premier destinations for peaceful game viewing and unparalleled tiger fish angling. Spend your days spotting wildlife from the camp's river bank or when out on your daily activities. After lunch, spend some time relaxing viewing wildlife as they come around to your camp or on the river bank. The shimmering sun reflecting like gemstones off the river creates unique photographic opportunities which clients may want to take advantage of. Do not be surprised by the elephants that walk by your camp to forage off the vegetation. If it gets a little too hot, you can take a plunge in the pool and cool off. At around mid afternoon, you will gather for high tea and proceed for an afternoon canoeing activity on the river culminating into an evening game drive on the return back. The canoeing activity is an incredibly fun yet relaxed and enjoyable experience with the opportunity to view good concentrations of wildlife and birdlife as they congregate by the river bank to drink. You are led by professional guides and their crew who help you navigate the river while spotting the hippos and crocodile cooling off or basking in the sun. The river water level swoosh and swirls vary depending on the time of the year/season while also coinciding with release of water from the Kariba dam, which ends up being an interesting experience on its own. The wildlife species that can be spotted include the various types of antelopes, elephants, hippos, crocodile, lions, buffalo and incredible amount of birds including fish eagles, herons, storks and the list goes on. The night game drives are reserved for the nocturnal creatures also commonly referred to the small five (as compared to the big 5) along with the superb opportunities to view the big cats hunt. For those preferring an alternative experience, the Lower Zambezi is world famous for its tiger fish and record catches have been made on the river. The fishing policy is tag and release, which works best in preserving the endemic population. Apart from the canoeing on the Zambezi, clients can also take an afternoon game drive on a 4x4 and end with a return to camp in the early evening. Spend the evening at the dinner table discussing your day's adventure with other guests and camp host while planning your activities for the following day.Activities Included: Day game drives; Canoeing; Night game drives; Fishing; Walking safaris; River boating safari.
Overnight Accommodation: Chongwe River Camp
SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK
Check in for your flight. Fly via Lusaka Airport to South Luangwa National Park, arriving at the Mfuwe Airport, the main town at the footsteps of South Luangwa. You are met on arrival and transferred to Kapani Lodge for your 3 nights Luangwa safari experience. Kapani means place of mopane trees. Kapani Lodge is an exclusive, private Norman Carr accommodation situated on the banks of one of the many ox-bow lagoons in the South Luangwa. South Luangwa is host to a wide variety of wildlife, birds and vegetation. Norman Carr Safaris pioneered the now famous "Zambia walking safari", which originated in South Luangwa and this still one of the finest ways to experience this pristine wilderness first-hand. The changing seasons add to South Luangwa's richness ranging from dry, bare bushveld in the southern hemisphere winter months to a lush green wonderland in the summer months. Norman Carr accommodations pride itself of offering a varied range of safari experiences. AfricanMecca's clients will be escorted by a team of Zambia's best safari guides and can choose between a simple, back-to-nature walking safari, journeying from one bush camp to the next; or alternatively set a slower pace with a longer stay at the main lodge, including plenty of game drives, good food and relaxation. Kapani Lodge accommodates just twenty guests and is open throughout the year. A thatched building in the center of the camp houses the lounge and library. It is pleasantly cool in the hot weather and warm and cozy in the cooler months with an open fire. A secluded swimming pool is available at Kapani Lodge.
Activities Included: Day game drives; Night game drives; Walking safarisOvernight Accommodation: Kapani Lodge
KAFUE NATIONAL PARK
After your morning activity and breakfast, fly to Kafue National Park via Lusaka or Livingstone. Arrive at the Busanga Airstrip, where you are met by your helicopter shuttle; transfer to Busanga Bush Camp. Your experience begins with the superb ascension with panoramic views of the woodlands and its dense foliage. The land mass opens up to beautiful grasslands in contrasting yellow, green and brown cut through by a river, creating a superb photographic experience as well as an opportunity to view game from above. The flatlands called the Busanga Plains, stretches in all directions as far as the eye can see - one of Zambia's most significant wetland resources and one of the few untouched by development or human activity. The lush grasslands are grazed by red lechwe antelope in their thousands, the ubiquitous puku, the stately sable and roan antelopes in the woodland to the diminutive oribi and duiker. The solid-rumped defassa waterbuck, herds of tsessebe, hartebeest, zebra and buffalo make for a full menu of antelope. The wealth of game on the plains of Kafue National Park are a big attraction for lions and prides of up to twenty are spotted regularly. Cheetah and leopard also roam the plains. Elephants are a stately sighting for clients on the Busanga Plains as this would mean they would have endured the long journey from the forests to the plains in search of water. Spend the days with early morning and mid-afternoon-night wildlife viewing, watching the birding interaction and spotting game in Africa's most precious gem.
Activities Included: Day game drives; Night game drives.Overnight Accommodation: Busanga Bush Camp
VICTORIA FALLS - LIVINGSTONE
An early breakfast is served. Fly to Livingstone via Lusaka. Upon arrival at the Livingstone International Airport by the Victoria Falls, a transfer officer will personally meet all arriving guests. He will be standing in the main arrival section holding a signboard with your name on it. Thereafter, you will be transferred to David Livingstone Safari Lodge and Spa for two nights.
The Victoria Falls in Livingstone offers an inescapable closeness to the natural elements and it is this true grandeur that lends a backdrop to the regal David Livingstone Safari Lodge and Spa. These great and famous falls, named by Dr. David Livingstone for his queen, Victoria, in November 1855, were well known to the indigenous peoples of Southern Africa by many names. The lodge consists of 77 rooms, all en-suite, of which 5 are suites and 2 rooms accommodate the disabled. Most rooms look out over the mighty Zambezi and a leisurely sun downer can be enjoyed from your private balcony. What are our Customers saying about our safari holidays?
On behalf of myself, my wife and my two adult daughters, I want to sincerely thank you and AfricanMecca Safaris for our fabulous recent safari. Everything you promised exceeded our expectations and was superb, which is saying a lot since this was our second trip, having had a wonderful Botswana Safari 10 years ago. Do not ever hesitate to use me as a reference.

Chobe was delightful, less than half full. Sussi and Chuma, very nice, again only 13 people in all. All the game drives and river cruises were excellent. We had great weather. The ability to get really close is in inspiring. EVERYWHERE we went, the people were warm, helpful and charming. Thank you so much. We will be recommending your services to all.
Thomas Kelch - California, United States
Raza Visram at AfricanMecca planned the most amazing trip for my friend and I. I wanted to go to 4 countries in 15 days and he made it happen. It was an aggressive itinerary and Raza planned it so well, that the transitions were seamless. The last leg of the trip was Botswana for another Safari and we stayed at the most beautiful lodge. The excitement in seeing the animals so closely is indescribable.
